The partnership between Awash Olana Multipurpose Farmers’ cooperative Union (AOFCU) and 2SCALE aims to promote an eco-efficient vegetable production system through developing soil and crop-specific fertilizer application methods, as well as introducing water-saving technologies, ultimately reducing the cost of production by 40%.
In addition, the partnership will leverage on institutional markets and wholesale traders as key drivers for empowering member smallholder farmers to enhance the competitive advantage over the other traders/aggregators. AOFCU aspires to establish an efficient sourcing scheme via market-based cropping calendar and brand identity to penetrate and become competent in the wholesale market.
